The best post this morning comes from Security Curve Weblog on Consumer Reports vs. the Anti-Virus companies. I can see a FAIR-based scientific use for this sort of research, so I’m with CR (in addition to all the good reasons Ed gives there).
Risk management for Malware incidents are interesting FAIR studies, esp. when you try to figure your risk concerning zero day malware. I would urge CISO’s, to run such a risk study (complete with custom malware if affordable) on at least an annual basis.
